PUPPY INFO &
TRAINING TIPS

INFORMATION ON VACCINATIONS, HEALTH,
FEEDING, GROOMING, CRATE TRAINING,
SOCIALIZATION, REFERENCE BOOKS...AND STUFF

Here's a collection of the handouts which we provide to our new puppy owners (and anyone else that asks); they're loosly organized sets of data on a variety of topics covering things we've learned over 45 years with large and small Basset Hounds. Some information is repeated (sometimes for emphasis, sometimes by accident), and we hope there's something here that you'll find useful. If you have a question or need info not covered here, please Email us.

These handouts are all in PDF format, for viewing with Adobe Reader. They'll all print on a single sheet of paper (or can be viewed online). If you're one of the seven people in North American lacking Adobe Reader on your PC, simply click the logo below to download and install it. It's absolutely safe, and it's easy.

ABOUT PUPPIES -- About leaving puppies at home alone, potty training, the need to chew, and structured training.

BITING & CHEWING -- Puppies are mouthy and will chew on things; they're teething and they're puppies; it's what they do. Here are some things to do (and NOT to do) when dealing with this delightful phase of their development.

CRATE TRAINING -- A crate can be your puppy's refuge and your best training aid; having one is a necessity. This article outlines the proper use of a crate during training.

PUPPY CARE -- A little about a lot of things: vaccinations, feeding, worms, grooming, bedding, toys, books, socialization, and housebreaking accidents.

TIDBITS -- More useful info we didn't put anywhere else: collars, bathing & brushing, feeding & watering (again), and toenails.

GOOD LUCK WITH YOUR NEW PUPPY!
